No Fairytale
James Jago

Matthew Baxter wasn't marked by destiny; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But mysterious forces beyond the ken of mortal man have exploded into his formerly tedious life, a world he never knew existed is fighting a war he doesn't fully understand, and like it or not, Matt's right in the middle of it.
The sides are unclear, and the line between good and evil is both fine and blurry. But with several factions hunting his new companion and the mysterious amulet in her possession, there's no time to be picky about allies; the best he can do is watch his back and hope he's picked the palest shade of grey.

Matt is nobody's knight in shining armour. Ariana Lestrange is nobody's damsel in distress. And this is no fairytale.

No Fairytale includes strong language, violence, and suggestive situations. Suggested readers are older teens to adults.

Hi Jake, finally found time

Phoenix — March 10, 2010 - 12:55pm

Hi Jake, finally found time to write a review for this too. I really liked it. Especially the last part of chapter 5 was fun to read like > “Mum! He's mine, don't break him!” Ariana scolded.<.
Guns, good chemistry between the main characters and some humor, just how a good story is supposed to be
More soonish?

I love it, you're making sure

I love it, you're making sure it's not to easy for them aren't you? Particularly liked this bit;
“Yeah, I can see how turning up in the company of half a dozen heavily-armed fairies that only I can see would help persuade Mum that it's time to take a very long holiday.”
Please excuse me while I go laugh my head of at the image in my head...

Great story - guns, adventure, crazy people and a little bit of magic - the perfect ingredients for an excellent story.

I've heard spells that do that called other things, but this is definately the most interesting name.

Can't claim credit for that, I'm afraid. Douglas Adams thought of it first.

Excellent chapter, I'm really enjoying how this story is progressing. Matt and Ariana are brilliant characters.

Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I like it. It's good to see that your talent for battle scenes is as good as ever.
I definitely do not like the MacCready family. Offering someone shelter, feeding them, then trying to murder them in their beds? Not on. I expect to see serious wrath heading their way in the future.

Good to see some more action. Don't make us wait too long, hey?
